For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Jet Black Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Jet Black celluloid color is gorgeous and displays that classic look of the 1930s. The cap has the Blue Diamond Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Wide Chevron Cap Banding that displays no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped clear and crisp with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 0 (for 1940) in the 1st Quarter". The barrel transparency is water clear, albeit, with minor ambering. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.
This Parker Senior Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for the 2nd Generation Vacumatics and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 10-12 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.
This is where this Parker gets very interesting, as you typically do not see NIBs that flex like this on Parker Vacumatics...This Parker NIB is 14K and VERY FLEXIBLE, I cannot emphasize this enough. The Parker NIB is a 14K Gold Split Arrow NIB, which writes smooth, in addition to being flexible! The actual 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .67mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to a triple broad stroke line variation. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .67mm (with light pressure) and will flex to a triple broad stroke that measures at 2.12mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection with this type of flexible NIB and is why the price is where it is. I would consider this Parker to be in Excellent Condition, the color is fantastic with the gold-filled trim being in fabulous condition and water clear barrel. This Parker Senior Maxima with a flex NIB is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
